Introduce a Girl to Engineering
Join Alief STEM, SWE Houston, SWE Rice and the OEDK to bring the world of engineering to young girls in the Houston area at the "Introduce a Girl to Engineering: Design Your World" event.
There will be two tracks for the event as well as a parent/educator program. This year 200 students will attend one of two outreach program tracks, Innovative Product Design or Extreme Engineering. Innovative product design will include using Autodesk TinkerCAD, laser cutters, and electrical wiring to create lamps to take home! Extreme engineering will be filled with quick thinking, problem solving, procurement, catapult competitions and lava lamps. The Parent/Education Program (PEP) will highlight innovative education tactics to teach girls STEM and keep them engaged. For more event information, see the links below:
Please use the form below to register as a student or a chaperone for the "Introduce a Girl to Engineering" event on Saturday, 2/18/23. Campuses are able to use Alief approved (volunteer badge) VIPS volunteers as chaperones. Each campus will need to provide chaperones in order for their students to attend (1 chaperone per 10 students). Students from a campus without a chaperone will not be able to attend.
Deadline to register for this event is Monday, 1/30/23 @ 4:00 PM.
Students must bring a completed (print, sign, fill-out) permission slip in order to attend. No exceptions. Do not turn in your permission slip to your teacher - bring it with you on the day of the event. Permission slips can downloaded at the top of this page.
Buses loading and drop-off will be in the Crump Stadium parking lot at the administration building (4250 Cook Rd) at 8:00 AM. We hope you can join us!
